Stink Bugs In The House

If your house has stinkbugs in it, you are truly and unfortunate soul...

Because just about any other pest infestation would be more pleasant! The scientific name for these wretched little bugs is Pentatomoidea, and yes, they stink. They stink badly. Unless you are the type of individual that loves the smell of a decomposing squirrel baking in the hot sun, you likely will be highly sickened by the repugnant odor which flows from the wretched stinkbug. In fact, stinkbugs smell so badly certain types of birds that would normally be a predator for such a small insect avoid eating them altogether, and instead wisely spend their days searching out prey that does not smell like a hot loaf. So in reality, the putrid odor of the stinkbug is actually just a natural defense mechanism, although that’s little solace for you if they are all up in your house.

So stinkbugs have gotten into my house, what are they going to do now?

Once stinkbugs have taken refuge in the house, they will release their devastating smell onto just about anything they touch or land on. That’s the bad news, but it gets worse. The smell of a stinkbug lasts an extremely long time, so long in fact, that once stinkbugs have invaded your house, they will likely return year after year because they can detect their own lingering odor and it acts as a biological calling card for future stinky generations.

Stinkbugs love to infest diverse garden areas, and if you happen to have intentionally planted a wide variety of plants and flowers around your house, unfortunately you may have unwittingly instigated the very stinkbug attack that you are now seeking to defend from.

Regardless of why stinkbugs first gathered near your house, if they are close by, frankly, it’s only a matter of time before you have stinkbugs in the house. The warm interior of your home is oh so tempting to the repugnant stinkbug, and they can creep through just about any crack, crevice or entry point. In the southern United States, stinkbugs don’t even hibernate, so once they are in, they can annihilate your home with gag inducing odor 365 days a year.

I am starting to think I want to brutally kill these stinkbugs in my house?

Smart move - once you have stinkbugs in the house, it goes without saying that you need to ruthlessly eliminate them using any means necessary. If you let them linger you are not only running the risk of allowing them to establish a strong foothold on your property, but you are most certainly opening the door for your friends and family to make fun of you behind your back. We recommend you skip the toxic chemicals and go for the environmentally friendly solution, buy one of our bug zappers and start laying waste to the odorous little demons.
